error message when sending email

Have not been able to send emails using Windows mail...was fine till a couple
of days ago. Only change has been a recommended update for Vista sp Had
trouble installing but finally did. Now I can not send emails. Any
suggestions.
I did an uninstall last night but no help

When you tell us there was an error message, but don't right click on the
error
message and copy all of it to your problem report, it's hard to offer much
help.

Which Vista SP update? Do you mean the Vista SP1 update, which tends to
make Windows Mail more sensitive to problems caused by antivirus programs?
What if any antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever had a Norton
or McAfee antivirus program on that computer, even a trial version?

I had the same problem after updating to Vista SP1, I could not send/receive
emails and I had also just updated to AVG free 8.0 so I wasn't sure what the
prob was. I tried disableing the email scanner but did not help. So I
uninstalled an old Norton AV that was expired (that I forgot I had) and
problem solved.

You might also need to run this cleanup program, since the Norton
antivirus uninstalls often leave too much behind:

I just downloaded the SP1 thing and now I can't send emails.I am running Tren
Anti Virus and have disabled the email scanner Please try and help me coz I'm
quite hopeless at this

Do a trial uninstall of your Trend Micro antivirus. If your email begins
working again, you've found the culprit.
