Cannot see PDF files

I cannot view any PDF files directly from any website that
I go to. When I try to do so, all that loads on my
computer is a blank white screen with a red "X" box in the
upper left corner of the screen. And I have downloaded
Adobe Acrobat correctly so I know that it runs. Please
help.

Try disabling the option within Acrobat Reader to display the downloaded
PDF file within the browser window. There's a good chance that the .pdf
file will download and display okay within Acrobat Reader's own window.
This is how I got PDF files to download and open okay under version 6;
however, some users of version 5 also noted the inability of viewing PDF
files within the browser window (and turning off the browser integration
within Acrobat Reader fixed their problem, too). See if it helps.

This worked for me too. In Acrobat or Acrobat Reader go to Edit >
Preferences > General > Internet... and uncheck the box that says allow pdf
to open in browser.
