IE6 will not display PDF documents

I am unable to view any .pdf files on the IE6 browser.

I have Adobe Reader 6.0 installed and selected the option
that allows me to view .pdf files directly from the
browser. However, whenever I click on a link to a .pdf
file it gives me a blank page with a small box with
an "x" in the top left hand corner of the screen.

Is there some setting that may be blocking .pdf files on
IE6?
