I am trying to upgrade all of our Windows 2000 machines
running SP2 and SP3 to SP4 through SMS.

The upgrade starts fine however it bails out on the
following error:
"The file c:\winnt\security\templates\basicwk.inf is open
or in use by another application.

Close all other applications and then click Retry.
"

Does anyone know a work around this or what is the process
or service that has the secuirity template in use? There
are no running applications.

You can find out what has open handles to the file using oh.exe (from MSFT)
or handle.exe/Process Explorer (from sysinternals.com).
