Service pack 4 error - smtp queue

When i try to download sp4 and it runs its inspection, i get a fatal error
message along the lines of c:\...\winnt\system32\smtp_aqueue.dll is open or
in use. close all applications and retry.

of course, there are no other applications running.

HELP!
