Appearance Effects

When I right-click on the desktop to access the Display Properties, the
"Effects" button under "Appearance" will not open a dialog box. Clicking on
this button would open up the properties under that button, but now, no
matter how much I click it, wait, or restart the computer, nothing happens.
What could be doing this, and what can I do to fix it?

Hello,

Are (or Were) you running any display enhancement software like Windows
Blinds or Desktop Architect?

Unfortunately, I was not able to find a definite solution for this problem,
and the ones I found online were drastic

Solutions found:

1) Uninstall the offending software
2) Restore the system back to the point before the software was installed.
3) Do a Repair install of XP
4) Look through
http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q=xp+Display+Appearance+Effects+button

Kelly might have found a definite solution, so you might want to wait for
her reply (if she sees this thread) or look through option 4.
