Zoom out gradients of color

G

Guest

I'm trying to put together a CD with pictures and music. I first wanted to
have a 'Star Wars' effect where, instead of stars coming at you, gradients of
color zoom out to you before the pictures come on. I don't know if it's me
or my crazy computer but I can't seem to get the gradients of colors to zoom
out one by one. I've tried AutoShapes that cover the whole slide and assign
each one with a different shade of color and timing but it's not happening.
Can you help me?

You said it's not happening. But what *is* happening?

Can you be specific about the animation and timing setup?

It seems that the first colored AutoShape appears. I try to have the second
AutoShape, with a gradient this time, slowly zoom out. I time it to 'very
slow'. Then, I try to get a third AutoShape zoom out with a different
'Shading Style, from center' color gradient (same color). I repeat the
timing for 'very slow' for all of them. But it seems that only the third
AutoShape stays on the screen. What am I doing wrong? Thank you so much for
responding.

I used 'Appear', 'With Previous' and 'Very Slow' for all the AutoShapes.

Thanks, I did try fade but the problem is still there. Could it be that I'm

You'll have to use the same timings for different animations applied to the
same shape if you want them to happen together.

Sometimes, it's easier to understand by seeing -- can you upload the sample
slide through http://www.yousendit.com/ or similar?

Is the third shape on top of the others, obscuring it?

Did you specify "hide after animation" or anything in the animation effect
options or timing?

Remember, we can't see what you're doing there so you have to pretend we're
blind and describe it with details.

Also, which version of PowerPoint are you using? (It sounds like 2002 or
2003, but it never hurts to make sure. You can check the version in Help |
About.)

Lydia, thanks for the file.

Since you are using PowerPoint 2000 for this, it won't be very realistic --
the effect you are trying to replicate would work best with PowerPoint 2002
or higher.

If you need to use 2000, a sort-of-workaround would be to create separate
slides for each of the gradients that you want to animate, and then
experiment with the timings. Even then, you don't have a realistic fade
animation in that version.

Yes, I have all the shapes on top of each other. I have 2003 at home and
2000 at work. I sent Geetesh a sample on the 2000 version. I wanted each
gradient of color to appear or fade in a blending manner and to do it slowly.
Almost like a kaleidascope (forgive my spelling).

You would have to do this in PPT 2002 or 2003, and you'd need to set an exit
animation to the shapes you want to fade out as the others fade/animate in.

It seems that the first colored AutoShape appears. I try to have
the
second
AutoShape, with a gradient this time, slowly zoom out. I time it to
'very
slow'. Then, I try to get a third AutoShape zoom out with a
different
'Shading Style, from center' color gradient (same color). I repeat
the
timing for 'very slow' for all of them. But it seems that only the
third
AutoShape stays on the screen. What am I doing wrong? Thank you so
much
for
responding.

:

You said it's not happening. But what *is* happening?

Can you be specific about the animation and timing setup?

I'm trying to put together a CD with pictures and music. I first
wanted
to
have a 'Star Wars' effect where, instead of stars coming at you,
gradients
of
color zoom out to you before the pictures come on. I don't know
if
it's
me
or my crazy computer but I can't seem to get the gradients of
colors
to
zoom
out one by one. I've tried AutoShapes that cover the whole slide
and
assign
each one with a different shade of color and timing but it's not
happening.
Can you help me?
