printing gradient fills

Hi all, having trouble here. I have an image in a slide, and on the side of
it, rather than use the whole image, I overlaid it with a fill that has a
gradient, just to make the image look as though it gfades into the slide.
Anyway, when I try and print, it just comes out all wrong. The image cuts
off in a sharp line right where the gradient starts; i double checked the
ordering, tried grouping, hell, even tried pdf'ing it, and it still looks
the same. Is there something I'm missing?

thanks

I'm afraid that's an issue many laser printers show. You could try to update
your printer driver or use another printer (inkjet printers often do a
better job on transparency).

Or you can group the background image with the gradient, right-click, choose
"Save as an image", discard the original group and insert the image. It
contains no transparency, but only one layer, so most printers will handle
it better.

Best regards,
Ute
