ZOOM IN NORMAL VIEW

Does anyone know of a reason why Word 2003 sometimes allows me to change the
Zoom setting in Normal view to any setting I want. At other times, changing
the Zoom setting has absolutely no effect on the magnification.

Just can't see any reason for this . . .

I don't know of a reason, but it recently started happening to me. Although I
couldn't change the zoom setting using the menu-driven options, I can change
it via the toolbar. Hope this helps.
