Zip disk won't stay in

I doubt if the OS is the problem here, but I have a Dell with SP2 that
was ordered with an Iomega zip drive. I only have one disk sitting
around, but when I insert it the drive spits it right back out. Possibly
the disk itself is defective, but even if it was, would that cause the
drive to reject it?

I don't *think* so. I had an identical used one I stuck in there and it
did the same thing. The used one was working OK in the machine it came
out of.

Are you trying to insert a Zip Disk that has a larger capacity than the Zip
Drive will support?

Just a word of caution. If the disk drive is defective, putting in a
good disk used to destroy the useability of the disk itself.
And, if the disk is defective, it could destroy the useability of the
disk drive.
Suggestion: if the disk drive is deemed defective and is replaced by
Dell, then have them replace the disk also.
Further suggestion: Forget the Iomega zip disk drive and purchase/use
'thumb' drives.

I attached my USB Zip 250 drive (been collecting dust) and then inserted a
disk. The drive light will blink rapidly on an off for about 7 seconds, the
disk does not pop out.
