Zebra P310C - Can't get the USB working with XP

I am trying to install my P310C with firmware V2.65 and serial c-e266440

I have the USB connection and when I power on I get new hardware detected
ELTRON Card Printer 310CF


I try to install from the CD - under f:\usb\Usb_drv but windows XP can find
the necessary software - so it doesn't install....

I have also tried by running the set-up program p310V2r14.exe but it gets
to where it says

Connect and power On all Plastic Card Printers connected to the Usb port -
I click ok and...

it does a few more installation things... then it asks me to select 1 of 3
choices...

Parallel Port or USB Port or Serial Port... I pick Usb Port and it says


No Printer Found, Please connect your printer to the USB port and click on
button previous.. if you still don't see USB printer, please update Printing
Support to Eltron USB driver....


I followed the Eltron Usb Driver readme.txt also? Nothing...



I tried getting this going for a few hours... nothing... Please help....

I would download the latest driver from here

Did you follow zebras install instructions?

Connect the printer to the computer via the USB port
(Windows will detect new hardware).
You will be prompted on the USB Directory to install the
USB Driver.
Browse on CD drive for USB Driver files.
Install the Printer Driver.
Install the USB Driver.
Install the Port Monitor.
Reboot the Computer.
In the driver, go to the Printer Properties.
Check if it works: Go to Tools Enter the command V You
should get a response via a Message Box.

According to there website the driver will not work unless
the firmware is installed.

The Problem with the Zebra P310C XP Driver (USB)

The problem with this download (p310v2r14.exe from Zebra = latest), is that the driver is the printer driver only. The printer has a built in USB to Parellel Port Adapter that requires a seperate driver, that is not included in the download, or apparently on the Zebra site. Zebra tells you to install THAT part of the driver from the original CD. Though if I had that... I wouldn't be downloading the driver.

If you check device manager you will see an unknown USB device that says
something to the effect of "Unknown Eltron 1284 to USB adapter". Windows update can't deliver a driver for this, XP SP3 does not include support for it, and the driver from Zebra does not include it.

Does anyone know where we can download this part of the driver for this device?
