"YP" messages and replies (Can somone help?)

From my sister (posting for her):
"Can some one give me a SIMPLE explanation of why
when I reply to SOME emails they only thing that
is received is a YP message,
yet if I initiate a NEW email to the same person
saying the same thing..
I do not get it. Is there a way to avoid this
annoying problem?"
I'm not sure what is going on there. But if I
email her (she uses OE) (I use Nutscape)
she replies and it looks like gibberish, but only
3 characters:
"ÿþ<"
Whta it is I can't figure out. She said one day a
window popped up and asked her if she wanted to
"compress" some folders in OE.
She clicked "eys".
then when she rpllies to somone after this, it
asked if she wantted to use unicode or something
or send "as is".
She clicked "Unicode" (or whatever it was)..
Now she can't reply to me or it looks like "ÿþ<"
only.
No message, no nothing.
Just "ÿþ<".
Someone help us please?
Btw, my OE is stuck. opens and crashes!

Ask in an Outlook Express or Netscape newsgroup. This has nothing to do
with Outlook.
