Your computer might be at risk

At start-up, I notice that the Security Centre icon on the system tray
displays a warning: You computer might be at risk. The firewall is not
turned on. for a while. I opened the Security Centre and checked if the
firewall is not turned on. It does turn on. Can someone advise me why it
happens and how to resolve it.

Thanks,

Ray

It will display if no firewall is in use.. definition of firewall in this
case is either the SP2 offering or a third party firewall..

Security Centre does NOT recognise a NAT modem/router as a firewall.. it may
also not recognise older versions of third party firewalls.. if you have an
older version, I would advise that you upgrade to a newer one..

Try http://www.zonealarm.com for a free one..

Mike,

I have three pc running Windows XP Pro or Home SP2 at home. They do not
have additional firewall. Only this unit has this warning display. If
related to SP2 firewall, how can I activate it without affecting my existing
operation.

Thanks,

Ray

In Control Panel, there is an icon labelled 'Windows Firewall'.. enable it
there.. it should not affect anything else..
