Alias,
There must be something wrong with my computer. I went to a searchbox
and typed "Linux affected by malware?" and it returned 421,000 entries. I'm
sure I could reword my query and obtain even more results. You should try
reading some of them instead of burying your head in the sand.
To state that "Ubuntu is bulletproof regarding viruses and malware" (or
any Unix/Linux based OS for that matter, including Mac OS X) is not only
patently false, it is an outright fabrication of the truth. A statement such
as "and is much more stable than Windows will *ever*" be is also a crock.
What do you base these assumptions on? Articles about the instability of
Linux based operating systems are a dime a dozen. Linux is no more stable
than Windows. What causes stability/instability is the user, not the
machine. As someone once said, "the biggest cause of computer problems lies
between the computer and the chair".
You do a disservice to the computer buying public by promulgating such
false, outrageous claims. Your "theory" is bullsh_t, pure and simple. If you
wish to gain anyone's respect you should at least be truthful about what you
post. I read all your posts and quite frankly, they are all similar inasmuch
as they say nothing and have no real value. It's the same, boring rant over
and over and over and over again.
The Windows operating systems have vulnerabilities. However, I don't
disseminate false statements about Windows, such as "Windows Vista is
bulletproof regarding viruses and malware". For those people who choose to
use Linux I say "good, I hope you're happy with it. It's a good operating
system". I don't go online and continuously trash the Linux OS nor do I call
the Linux users stupid, morons, Windoze losers, etc, etc, etc.
The thing that bothers me the most about many of the Linux users
(including many Mac OS X users) is that they feel a need to publicly trash
Microsoft and the Windows operating systems. I seldom see Windows users
doing the same concerning Linux users. Most Windows users understand that
different people will want to use different operating systems and let it go
at that. Freedom of choice is freedom of choice and respect for the
different decisions of others is the only way to go. Many Linux users seem
to have an inherent desire to spew hatred and falsehoods concerning Windows
users. They seem, for some reason, to have absolute contempt for Windows
users. Personally, I choose to take the high road and not belittle or
criticize a person for using a product different from the one I use. It's
called "respect for the choices and decisions of others". You should try it
some time. You could always choose to post the attributes of the Linux
systems and simply let it go at that. There is no need for your vitriolic
statements concerning Windows users, which happens to be 90% of the world
market.
I have visited Linux discussion groups and forums and continue to do
so. Going to these discussion groups is refreshing in a way because I don't
see a multitude of Windows users trashing the Linux operating system and/or
accusing the Linux users of being morons, fanboys, users of Linturd, etc,
etc, etc. I can only assume that the majority of Windows users have a higher
standard of decency and respect for the decisions of others to use the
operating system of their choice.
