If after trying Internet activation, it doesn't work, try phone
activation and stay on the line until you get a real person you can
grovel to in order to use that which you have already paid for. Either
that or use a REAL operating system like Ubuntu. Get it a www.ubuntu.com
It's free and comes with over 23,000 free programs. Compared to Windows,
Ubuntu is bulletproof regarding viruses and malware and is much more
stable than Windows will *ever* be.

Logon to your ISP and manually activate your system. You set automatic
activation when installed.

Your system is loaded with a KMS key and is attempting to contact a KMS
host. This would be found in the DNS SRV resource records, which are not
available on the internet, only a Microsoft DNS server.

Enterprise Vista requires a KMS host for license activation or you need to
convert to a MAK license. Either one is only available through Microsoft
volume licensing.

KMS will primarily be used by enterprises on internal networks where systems
can contact the KMS host using the SRV record. KMS requires 25 unique
machines prior to activating client licenses (virtual machines do not
qualify). A KMS key requires reactivation every 180 days.

MAK license is permanent for the machine and is similar to XP enterprise
licensing, except activation with Microsoft over the internet, phone is
required, also the number of MAK activations is recorded and limited. The
MAK key is intended for remote users who do not connect to your enterprise
network.

Either key, if not activated the machine will go into reduced functionality
(you will only be able to run IE and only to connect to Microsoft for
activation or to purchase a valid key.

This is Microsoft’s effective plan to end (substantially reduce) illegal
distribution of the O/S.

MAK info:

Alias,

There must be something wrong with my computer. I went to a searchbox
and typed "Linux affected by malware?" and it returned 421,000 entries. I'm
sure I could reword my query and obtain even more results. You should try
reading some of them instead of burying your head in the sand.
To state that "Ubuntu is bulletproof regarding viruses and malware" (or
any Unix/Linux based OS for that matter, including Mac OS X) is not only
patently false, it is an outright fabrication of the truth. A statement such
as "and is much more stable than Windows will *ever*" be is also a crock.
What do you base these assumptions on? Articles about the instability of
Linux based operating systems are a dime a dozen. Linux is no more stable
than Windows. What causes stability/instability is the user, not the
machine. As someone once said, "the biggest cause of computer problems lies
between the computer and the chair".
You do a disservice to the computer buying public by promulgating such
false, outrageous claims. Your "theory" is bullsh_t, pure and simple. If you
wish to gain anyone's respect you should at least be truthful about what you
post. I read all your posts and quite frankly, they are all similar inasmuch
as they say nothing and have no real value. It's the same, boring rant over
and over and over and over again.
The Windows operating systems have vulnerabilities. However, I don't
disseminate false statements about Windows, such as "Windows Vista is
bulletproof regarding viruses and malware". For those people who choose to
use Linux I say "good, I hope you're happy with it. It's a good operating
system". I don't go online and continuously trash the Linux OS nor do I call
the Linux users stupid, morons, Windoze losers, etc, etc, etc.
The thing that bothers me the most about many of the Linux users
(including many Mac OS X users) is that they feel a need to publicly trash
Microsoft and the Windows operating systems. I seldom see Windows users
doing the same concerning Linux users. Most Windows users understand that
different people will want to use different operating systems and let it go
at that. Freedom of choice is freedom of choice and respect for the
different decisions of others is the only way to go. Many Linux users seem
to have an inherent desire to spew hatred and falsehoods concerning Windows
users. They seem, for some reason, to have absolute contempt for Windows
users. Personally, I choose to take the high road and not belittle or
criticize a person for using a product different from the one I use. It's
called "respect for the choices and decisions of others". You should try it
some time. You could always choose to post the attributes of the Linux
systems and simply let it go at that. There is no need for your vitriolic
statements concerning Windows users, which happens to be 90% of the world
market.
I have visited Linux discussion groups and forums and continue to do
so. Going to these discussion groups is refreshing in a way because I don't
see a multitude of Windows users trashing the Linux operating system and/or
accusing the Linux users of being morons, fanboys, users of Linturd, etc,
etc, etc. I can only assume that the majority of Windows users have a higher
standard of decency and respect for the decisions of others to use the
operating system of their choice.

Reread what I wrote, moron. I wrote COMPARED TO WINDOWS and if you, sir,
aren't sitting at my computer, it's pretty much bulletproof.

Snip long winded and ill informed drivel.

Then you've missed Francis' little excursions into Linuxland. THE Usenet
Village Idiot makes its daily visits to the Ubuntu newsgroup to leave the
same stupid shit it leaves around here.

Cheers.
