Changing oil? Certainly - not only because of the potential mess, but

In my case, the local auto parts store has an offical waste management
drum for waste oil. It's not an issue for me, but I can see it as an
issue in cities who don't have this form of waste management.

Do you have any fencing? I haven't changed oil personally, but I have
used other peoples changed oil as creosote on fences.

those are the real facts
Changing oil? Certainly - not only because of the potential mess, but
also for the problem of disposing of the old oil properly. As for
choosing to evaluate only retail store kits, I can understand it even
if I disagree with it. That is the type of kit that a new refiller is
most likely to try first - unless somebody were to steer him in a
better direction. They probably would have better served the consumer
if they had mentioned the better quality (but less ubiquitous)kits,
but that's not the way they think.

It's very amazing... for someone who prints so little to post so much
about printing who's primary source for infomation is PC World. I'm
not saying PC World isn't handy to get a brief overview of products, if
you want to know how something works out of the box that's fine and
dandy, but going beyond the manual is where groups like this come in.

Actually, I don't have a problem with old oil. I use the oil from my
tractors and cars to lubricate some of the various moving parts on my
farm equipment, and I have been known to use it as bar oil on my chain saw.

Used motor oil contains a variety of things that make it unsuitable
for further use as a lubricant, including metal particles.

FYI - a thicker bar oil will stay on the chain better and your bars
will last longer.
