Yet another XP upgrade/install question

My computer currently is running XP Home fully updated on a 40 GB HD; I want
to install another (in addition to the current drive) much larger HD and I
want to run XP Pro. The old drive will become a back up drive only. I only
have the one computer but I do have an large, external HD that hooks up via
USB 2.0.

Do I install an upgrade from Home to Pro on the old drive? If so, how do I
get everything over to the new drive? OR do I fresh install Pro on the new
drive and if so, how do I get all the settings, data, etc., over to the new
drive with Pro on it? Seems like there has to be some way to do it. Thanks.

First install the new drive and install XP Pro, then make the old drive a
slave drive and connect it up. It will be D: drive now you can cut and paste
your programs to c: drive then click on the EXE files and the ones that work
you don't need to reinstall. As for the settings sorry you have to do that
all over again.

You can try taking the registry from the Home and export it to the Pro and
reboot.
all it can do is not boot up. then all you have to do is reinstall and
choose repair or
do a quick format and install again.
