YAY!! windows mail works now!

hooray for Gary, THIS was the help I needed

there had been the login window problem and apparently I had screwed it up.
thank you gary for pointing me in the right direction!! (though I have to say
it was like swimming upstream sorting thru all the problems and answers!)
