YahooMessenger 8 login problems

Hi,
When I install yahoo messenger 8 onto my xps M140 laptop it will not allow
me to login. I uninstalled 8 and installed an earlier version of messenger
and I can login no problem. I installed version 8 yahoo messeger on my win98
desktop with no problems.

Are there some firewall settings or something I need to change? I could use
some schooling here.

Lesson #1: this isn't a "How-To-Yahoo" group. It's a Windows XP

Hi

I have noticed that 2 versions of Yahoo Messenger take forever & a day to
login too. They are 8.1.0.209 & the one before that. However, if you upgrade
to the 8.1.0.239 it logs in a lot quicker.

On the 8.1.0.239 version there is a report problems to Yahoo option on the
Help menu. It creates log files, which you can send to Yahoo

I found a bug in one of the versions & told Yahoo & they said it would be
effecting all users. I then told them they have a few days to sort it out
before I reversed engineered this version & 90 (NOP) this byte to stop it
from happening, but whilst I was there I would get the offsets for all the
other advertising windows too. A few days later 8.1.0.209 was released.

If you want to remove all the advertising from Yahoo Messenger 8 then let me
know the version because I have written tools to do it for the last 4
versions. )
