Yahoo Music engine has seriously impaired my XP

Am I the only one having these problems?

I installed YME on my Home office. The next time I tried to use my CD
player XP could not access it nor could it access the dvd player either(I did
not install anything else). The entries in the device manager had a yellow ?
and the error said that the entry for the device in the registry was
incomplete or corrupt.

I ran scans with Trend Micro (Licensed), Spybot (free), Adaware (free) and
RegistryFirstAid (licensed). I received no indication of any worms or
viruses. I tried every system restore point I had. I still had the same
problem. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I got the latest drivers, I
did everything I know of, and I know alot because I have always had the
weirdest problems.

I could find no entry in the control panel window for software removal, nor
could I find an uninstall program so I tried to remove it manually. doing
that somehow trashed the boot sector and I ended up having to do a low level
format to be able to reuse the disk.

I have SBC/Yahoo DSL so when my antivirus subscription ran out I decided to
install the Yahoo AV, and Parental controls. These worked ok but were
limited to IE and Yahoo mail. My son found out about the Yahoo music 'blue
room' and talked me into installing the engine on the family computer. I
thought that ok maybe I screwed up the first time, they would not be in
business if even a few other people experienced the same problems.

The ME would only install in conjunction with Yahoo IM. I did not want it
but went ahead and installed it. I am in deep doodoo now. The IM tries to
fire up everytime I login and i just shut it down using the red X. If I then
try to run the music engine(ME) XP goes nuts. It will not let me close the
ME gui, it will not let me kill the ME process using the task manager. Other
windows functions do not work properly either it will not let me shut down
using the task bar, one the task manager shut down worked, but other times I
had to power off completely.

I have removed all yahoo programs from startup and everything seems to be
work as long as my son does not run the ME. I have written SBC/Yahoo for
instruction on how to completely remove the ME.

I am posting this here because of the odd effects on Windows XP. An
comments, ideas or whatever would be appreciated.
