Yahoo Messenger

I just have a simple question that maybe someone can help
me with. I use Yahoo Messenger. The original Yahoo
Messenger I had on the computer had the icon on the
toolbar with a yellow smiley face and a red Y behind it
(This icon was on the top of the computer as well as on
the lower left corner). This was not the newer version. I
then updated the Messenger to 6.0 and the icon changed to
just a yellow smiley face. Today as I was just on-line
the icon on the top changed back to the older version
look but the icon on the left hand corner kept the yellow
smiley face. Is there a problem with my Yahoo Messenger
and should I resinstall it again? I just wanted to know
why the icon changed. Also if I do decide to update
again, do I need to uninstall the version I now have and
then reinstall or if I just update messenger 6.0 again
and when prompted exit of of Yahoo Messenger (right click
exit) will the new install just overide the version I
have now? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, just got your answer. I am not very computer literate
so I am not sure what you want me to do. Do I have a
parasite that could be affecting my Yahoo Messenger? What
do I need to do to correct this problem? The only thing I
can think to do is to reinstall the Messenger program.

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling Yahoo Messenger
as a start, post back if there are still issues with functionality.

I did as you said and completely uninstalled the file for
Yahoo Messenger from add or remove programs and then
reinstalled it. About 2 hours later the icon on the top
toolbar changed to just the smiley face so the problem
has now been fixed. I want to thank you for your help. If
any more problems arise I will know where to go for help.
