Disappearing icons!

Occasionally, I randomly loose one or two of the icons that are normally
situated to the left of the time, in the bottom right hand corner of
Windows. It's always a "messenger" icon that disappears i.e. either MSN
Messenger, Yahoo Messenger or Skype.

Any ideas?

It's probably set to Hide when inactive. You can see the hidden icons by
clicking on the little arrows and expanding the Notification bar. You can
choose to 'always show' or hide or 'show when active' by right clicking on
the taskbar, unlocking it, properties, check 'Hide Inactive icons' & click on
Customize button.

The desktop (explorer.exe) restarted and the programs did not "replace"
their icons in the notifcation area after the restart.
