Yahoo! Mail and Swen Worm

B

Brian

Hi!

Does anyone know if Yahoo! Mail is going to fight the Swen worm? Here it has
been 4 days and I still get several in a few seconds that fill up my inbox.

Thanks,
Brian

Their "mail box full" notification email being 665kb doesn't help much with
the space issue either.

I spoke to tech support monday and they didnt seem to know there was a
problem. Best solution I can see is to leave OE open 24 hours and set to
check messages and delete spam every 15 minutes.

Adam, Brian said that he's using Yahoo mail. He didn't mention that
he's paying extra for POP3 access, so I don't think he's doing that.
Instead, he's probably reading it on the web.

If so, then he doesn't have access to OE.

I plan to write Yahoo a paper mail letter and complain. I'm actually
not getting anything there, because Swen doesn't know about that
address.

Yahoo! Inc.
701 First Avenue
Sunnyvale, California 94089

You could also try calling, but I'm not posting the number here.
Besides, I have a feeling that you would end up in voice mail hell.

Yes...Yahoo! Mail on the web. It is only a secondary address but the
"Microsoft" e-mails will not STOP!

Well, it is a second address, so it isn't that I receive very important
e-mails there but I am telling you, that is ALL I get and it fills me up to
the 4 meg limit within seconds of deleting the mails.

Curious. I've been using free POP access for years. With the recent virus
flood, my mailbox filled up and now my POP access is blocked to the account
I was using.

I created a new account this morning and POP access is working fine.

Brian, there are some other threads about adding domains to the
"Blocked Senders" list in Yahoo mail.

The last three copies of Swen in my inbox had this in the "From:"
header:

microsoft.com
bulletin.msdn.com
puremail.com

YMMV. I don't expect any mail from any of these domains at my Yahoo
address.

The great advantage is that messages with these domains in the From:
field are discarded immediately. They don't go to Bulk or Trash, and
they don't count against your quota.
