I have a brand new computer, Gateway, with mega GB capabilities, but the
Yahoo! Browser quits working about half of the time that I am on the
Internet. Yahoo! has not helped me solve the problem, so I am requesting
anyone's help.

Have you tried a different browser like Firefox if the 'Yahoo!' browser
is not working properly?

There is indeed a Yahoo Browser. I preferred the Yahoo browser over all
others when I was using XP. It is a customized version of Internet Explorer.
However, it will not work with Vista as it is incompatible. Yahoo has been
working on a Vista version of their browser for a long, long time. There is
no excuse for the delay.

Have a nice day.

I would have thought that even you James T. would know that indeed there is
a yahoo browser (customized internet explorer ) and has been for about
5yrs...First SBC and now AT&T offer it as part of there package comes with
antivirus,,antispy,,firewall,,anti speed,,anti productivity you name
it....Lots o crap to slow down your system !!!...Look at that now you know
everything !!! oh wait ! you thought you did !!

as you said that is a customized ie, not a different browser

there are ways to remove the branding from IE and have it clean

He is too busy posting Bad Vista/Good XP/Ubuntu information to realize that!

The more that I have tried to make the Vista program work with the Yahoo!
Browser the more I realized that the two were not compatible. Thanks!

If you have Yahoo DSL, they do have software that you can use; but I don't
believe it is mandatory.
Just use IE7, Netscrape, Opera(tion), Safari(oops) or FireFox.
Generally the DSL modem handles all the connection/username protocols; so
you should be able to network to it without using any special software.
Accessing email or such with a premium Yahoo account can be handled by any
decent email program.
You can also read mail online if desired.

Yes, I do have Yahoo DSL. The networking speeds are awesome and the price is
very cheap, the price being about the same as dialup. I have never had any
problems with their network and their technical service is very, very good
(24/7/365). I have used Yahoo DSL for many years and I see no need to change.
The only software of theirs I use is the Yahoo Browser. As I stated before,
it is a customized version of Internet Explorer and yes, it performs much
better than the regular Internet Explorer. It is much more stable than IE in
and of itself.

The Yahoo Browser is not mandatory, but then again, I did not say it was.
You are also correct about the DSL modem/wireless router. It will work with
any OS and you do not need any special software for it to perform correctly.
The DSL modem/wireless router is manufactured by 2Wire, has four ethernet
connections and can handle up to ten wireless connections at the same time. I
have never had a dropped network signal. I also have the ability to configure
the firewall within the modem/router and the ability to handle all users on
the network.

I do not like Netscape and I especially do not like Firefox. I prefer to use
a browser that does not require extra plugins to work with the internet
effectively. I was very, very disappointed with the Safari for Windows. It
was full of bugs when released and remains full of bugs. It offers no
advantages when it comes to being infected with malware.

I don't use the Yahoo toolbar, AntiSpy, or Parental controls. I do use the
Yahoo Messenger because of its ability to translate languages as you type. I
also appreciate the ability to use my telephone in conjunction with the IM
client. I can call anyone I wish, anywhere in the world, free of charge. I
see no reason to bloat my OS with the additional Yahoo software.

You are also correct about accessing email with the Yahoo Browser. Yahoo DSL
is a PPPOE structured service and will work with POP3 accounts. However, I
prefer the Yahoo email client above all others. Personal preference, that is
all. I have no need to create a POP3 client.

The Yahoo Browser is incompatible with the Vista OS at this time so I am
using the IE7 included with Vista Ultimate. Based upon Yahoo's inability to
make their browser compatible with Vista, almost six months after the public
release of Vista, I estimate they will have a compatible browser available
sometime in the year 2009. I don't know what their problem is. There is no
excuse. I chalk it up to poor R&D and marketing.

Have a nice day.
