XP's archiving of previous windows OP system

P

Paul Tipping

I have upgraded from 98 to XP (home) and XP kindly
archived my previous OS. Unfortunately it overwrote my
Outlook express folders and {hopefully} archived the
folders it is now not showing in OE xp. Does anyone know
which cabfile to look in, and how to retrieve these
folders and messages?

many thanks

It most likely didn't overwrite them. The default storage location is just
different.

See if you don't have a C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\[unique
id]\Microsoft\Outlook Express folder. The files in there should have a DBX
file extension. That's where 98 stores them.

The default storage location in XP is C:\Documents and
Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\[unique
id]\Microsoft\Outlook Express
