For the last two driver updates, I have tried to uninstall the ATI control
panel and CAT drivers. After uninstall, on reboot, the system (XPPro)
re-discovers the drivers and I am back to square one. The ATI drivers
show up again in the Control Panel|Add Remove software list and the process
continues ad-infinitum..
I tried to "roll back" the drivers but that says that there are no
previous drivers to roll back to.
I could use the Cat-uninstaller from ATI but would rather not. That
gets rid of Guide Plus and DVD decoder etc.
All I want to do is to switch to MS's VGA drivers. How do I do that?
After reboot, it finds VGA card as the drivers. So far so good. Then in 30
seconds or so, it pops up the "new hardware found" bubbles near the task bar
and in a few more seconds, I'm back with the ATI drivers.
I wonder if there is a setting somewhere in XPPro that will prevent
discovery of plug-and-play hardware without user approval ...
