PLEASE HELP - I'm on xp pro and just mistakenly installed .net framework 1
on my computer - since then, it boots up to the 'logging into your settings'
box and then reboots - I have to then boot up in safe mode, restart and then
boot up again normally but with the xp pro cd in the drive - for some
reason, it then boots up ok - the update is not in the control panel under
remove programs (although sp 2 is and the black screen I get when booting up
in safe mode does say win xp pro Service pack 2) - I've also tried to
'goback' to my earliest time without success -

would this be from the framework that is doing this or do I have some sort
of virus that keeps rebooting mycomputer? any helpappreciated

I went on line and looked at 'recent installation history on windows
updates - and I don't see the framework setup - the last thing installed was
security update for win xp (KB890175 on Jan 12 - I've only had this problem
since Sunday so that can't be it can it? this one said it didn't install
properly Security Update for Windows XP (KB873339) any help?

thanks!

Show updates in Add/Remove - If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the Show updates check box (at the top of the
list),

ok, I took it off...rebooted - no help - it is still booting up - going to
blue welcome screen..and then reboots - IF I but the xppro cd in the drive
and reboot..then it boots up ok...

any ideas why it keeps rebooting on me at startup???? PLEASE HELP

the error I get is this

Enable a Boot Log: Press F8 on restart, to choose the bootlog option. Look in the %windir% for NTBTLOG.TXT and some hint of what is
failing. (Some device file probably.)

ok, I tried that - as it was booting up, I hit F8 but it did nothing - just
kept going thru the process and rebooting and rebooting and rebooting - it
only goes thru the whole process when I insert the xp pro cd in the cd drive
.... then for some reason it completes the boot up

any ideas??

ok, so I did a search for NTBTLOG.TXT and found it in explorer - there is
SO MUCH it DIDN'T LOAD!!??? don't know if I can attach anything to this
group, so am copy/pasting - how do I get these things to load? maybe this is
my problem....and why don't they load?

well, as you can see - I didn't copy/paste as its a huge list of drivers not
loaded...what do I do now?

I'm still needing help on this subject - can anyone offer any other
suggestions - or should I just take it in to the shop?
