Hi,
I have a 2 machine workgroup at home, both running XP-Pro - a desktop
(with HfNetChk installed) and a notebook. Both are connected to an ADSL
switched router which also provides DHCP functionality. I can ping each
machine from the other, no probs. Both are on the same subnet. I can
browse each machine from the other, no probs (via "View Workgroup
Computers" ... &c). What I can't do is get HfNetChk to connect to the
notebook to scan it. It recognises it as being a member of the workgroup
when I go to add computers via the network, but when it comes time to
scan it complains that it doesn't have Admin access.
I have the same account on each machine with Administrator access (same
username, same password) and I've also tried setting credentials in
HfNetChk to make it connect to the notebook using either the regular
"Administrator" account, or the personal account that I have set up the
same on each machine - no joy either way! Maybe I'm not specifying this
correctly.
I know this is really easy, and dumb of me not to get, but I don't want
to have to build a domain here just for 2 machines, just to solve this.
I'm convinced I can do this as workgroup.
What silly thing could I have missed?
TIA
Andrew
