Networking XP and Vista

I've been trying to get my XP pro machine and Vista notebook to recognize
each other in a workgroup. Both machines have the same workgroup names. My
wife's notebook can network just fine to the XP machine. I can ping each
machine from the other. I have turned of all third party firewall and windows
firewalls. Any suggestions?

Cheers!

Look at the Network Location Type on the Vista computer.

And look at NetBT and personal firewalls.

And look at logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each computer,
so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and
follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Thanks Chuck. Tried the procedures in the first two links to no avail. Have
to head to bed before traveling for a couple of days. Will try your other
suggestions on my return. Thanks! per
