XP wont start up

Worked fine yesterday. Today it was frozen. Rebooted and
now all I get is the Dell Screen, then a DOS type screen
with 5 different modes to start (none work) then I got a
disk check message where is found a bunch of bad links
and said it fixed them. Same screen (or another?) is
doing a physical memory dump.
I keep starting over and going through the same routine.
Sometimes windows xP logo comes up, but then shuts off!
I am writing this on second computer. Please help. Can't
even get into safe mode.
OH yes, a few days ago I added a switch so that both
computers could print directly to printer. I have
unplugged the printer, but still nothing works.
Any ideas? Throw it out the window maybe?
Thanks

Thats why it's called Windows, oops there goes another,
you can try an Repair Install , not a full install all
