Recently reinstalled XP Pro.
Since then, I have tried to instal SP2 and gotten "access denied" errors. I
contacted XP support (which takes at least 24 hours for an answer) and they
told me to change my permissions for the "administrator" and "user" accounts
to "take ownership". Since doing this, XP stalls at the blue welcome screen.
I cannot get to the safe mode or anything at this time.
The next suggestion was to do the windows repair via a boot from the cd,
pressing enter, then R to repair windows. I have done this...nothing.
I believe that the "user" probably should not have been set to "take
ownership".
All the files on the hard drive are vitally important. Does anyone have any
ideas?
