My computer crashed and I can't restart in any mode! I tried using the repair
option from the reinstall disc and I also tried to do a recovery. Nothing
works. Any ideas before I do a reinstallation? I have files that I do not
want to lose...

OK, that makes that a bit hard to do then.

As you have tried a repair install and it failed, I suspected the HD or
controller is dead.

Can you get the HD out and try accessing it in another PC. You can get an
adapter for using a laptop HD in a desktop for a few bucks.
At least you may be able to pull the files off the drive. Then run some
checks on it, but only after you get the data off.
