XP Windows Update Opens New Windows Update Panel

I am a regular user of the Windows Update function with
my Windows XP Professional installation. Today when I
tried to perform an update, after performing the scan, it
shows (1) available update for XP. When I click on any
of the following..."Windows XP (1)" or "Review and
install updates" or "View installation history"
or "Personalize Windows Update" , instead of getting the
normal functionality such as the update description and
download icon for "Windows XP (1)" on the right side of
the screen it initiates a new Windows Update screen in
this portion of the panel. Anyone have any ideas?

Mine is worser than this. When I connect to internet,
approx after 8 or 9 minutes, my internet line is hijacked
by, I guess, access to microsoft.com. I can't access any
other site.
