XP will not boot even in safe mode

Please Help!

My sytem is constantly going in reboot like mode after the "Loading Windows
XP" screen. I have tried in Safe Mode, but it seems to get hung up loading
the Drivers. I have tried disabling the driver through the recovery consol,
but then it has the same problem with the next driver on the list and the
next?

I am running a dignostics test now, the quick test showed nothing so I am
running the extended version but am not hopeful that it will help.

My wife says that she was on-line this morning and everything was fine, then
she tried to play solitaire and received a message something about not being
able to find file. She then shut the ccomputer down and now we have this
problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the advice, but now it looks like everthing is gone. Looking at
dir C:\ in DOS shows a few files but NO directories!!! And now Reinstallation
CD will not even run, it comes up with an error "File\i386\ntkrnlmp.exe could
not be loaded. The error code is 7" Soooo, I can't even get into the Recovery
Console anymore...

Doesn't look good :(

Error Message: Ntkrnlmp.exe Could Not Be Loaded Error Code 7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812580

Please post a copy of the Stop Error Report.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

If you are using a wireless keyboard and the F8 key does not work
substitute a wired keyboard and mouse for this exercise only.

Hope this helps.

you can use your windows
setup cd and boot into the
recovery console.

when you get to the file
system prompt you can
run the command:

bootcfg /rebuild

and

fixboot

then type exit, remove your cd.

the above commands will
fix the rebooting and the
boot menu.

-------------

it is important to perform
routine disk/file system tune
ups while the system is
functional and stable to
avoid unexpected surprises.
