XP user accounts and e-mail

I'm new to XP. I have two accounts configured, both set to access the same
outlook express account for e-mail. It doesn't work. I receive mail fine on
one user account, the other gets nothing. What gives?

Hi,

It's not supposed to work that way, each user should have their own account.
However, it's easy enough to set up, but carries with it a danger.

Log on as any user, open Outlook Express. Click tools/options/maintenance
tab, click on the store folder button. Move it to a shared location
accessible by all users (right now it is under their local profile). "Ok"
your way out and close Outlook Express. Logoff and repeat the steps for each
user, this time selecting the location selected/created by the first user.

*IMPORTANT* Do NOT use fast user switching with Outlook Express left open.
You (and all other users) MUST remember to close it before switching. If any
user fails to do this, the mail store may be corrupted beyond repair, and
all saved messages will be lost.

Rick, Before doing the above, you MUST create a new store folder first
before moving the existing one or you risking losing the entire contents
of your message store.

Hi Kath!

Agreed that it is easy to corrupt the mail store, but I don't always set up
a new folder first. I have used this procedure a number of times using the
"Shared Documents" as the destination. I've used this destination simply
because the sharing amongst all system users is already in place, so the
common household user does not have to mess with permissions.

I would still say that each user should have thier own mail account, or that
they simply share a logon. Either would be much safer on the mail store.
