After installing windows 98 on a clean formatted hard
drive, I started the Windows XP(home ed.)upgrade
installation. About half-way through the install, received
the message that install could not find the catalog files,
and could not continue. Please help.

Hi

Why do you want to upgrade from 98 after installing 98 afresh. Go for a fresh installation of Windows XP. That is much easier and gives a lot of benefits and you wont have to break ur head over old non compatible drivers in Windows 98.
