XP upgrade and modem

I'm probably not the first with this problem.

I upgraded from ME to XP Pro. My modem is working, I'm connected to my ISP
and Outlook Express and Firefox are working.
But, IE and other MS programmes go nowhere.

Any suggestions?

Check the Ineternet options for IE.

You have a working connection, that's obvious so it just remains to check
where IE is pointed.
