I think I have the simplest network in the world. An XP is the host trying
to reach a Win 98 via a Linksys Firewall Router. Neither computer will
connect to the other.
Neither Network Troubleshooting from the 98 nor network wizard from the XP
can find the problem which started after I had to reload the XP op system to
delete a virus.

My Norton Firewall is disabled; the Linksys hardwire firewall is enabled.

My head hurts!

Thanks in advance for your help.

The first question I always ask is if you can ping. if not, compare ipconfig
/all or post it here. or you can go to http://www.ChicagoTech.net
do-it-yourself tools to do the troubleshooting.

Make sure that XP's built-in Internet Connection Firewall is disabled.

Don't just disable the Norton Firewall. Un-install it. That's the
only way to find out whether the firewall is causing problems. Don't
re-install it until everything is working. In the mean time, your
Linksys router protects your computers from Internet hackers.
