xp to SP2_ can't see links

If this repeated on me, I apologize.

I upgraded my XP Pro to SP2. Everything worked flawlessly. It
did go through and reset a lot of my customizations, especially in
IE.

Here is the problem.
My wife went to her school district web site to download this
year's calendar. It would not print across my network (an issue
that has been fixed). At the time, I said "no problem", I'll just
print it from my computer.

I went to:
http://www.okcps.org/calendar/index.htm Her computer shows a
clickable link under the text that says:District Calendar. It
also shows the clickable logo for Acrobat under the text which
says click on the link to acquire Adobe. . .
... .

When I go to the same site I do not get either clickable link.
When I click properties at the link on her computer, it tells me
they are .gifs. I do not get the links, I do not see logos, I do
not get boxes with the little red x. I reviewed the options in IE
tools. I checked the Knowledge Base. To date I have not found a
reference to my particular issue. I would not even know I had an
issue were it not for the flukey way we encountered it.

I have a firewall. I disabled the XP firewall. I have disabled
my firewall. No change. I have reset all options/security
settings/etc to default. Still no links, just empty line spaces.

Hi Dan,

Well this is a humdinger - if you don't mind me saying so!

I'm at a a loss for too many suggestions, especially as neither of the links
appears.

I do note (from looking at the page source) that it uses javascript AND a
bot and the formatting for the 'same directory' link isn't as I would expect,
that is it doen't have ./ before the file name.

If you view source do you see any differences between your PCs? Any
difference in IE version (do a help/ about)?
Do the menus under the OCPC banner work? and the link at bottom left?

Reply here and I'll see if I can find some more info.

I appreciate your attention.

My computer shows IE v 6.02900.2180xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158
Update Versions:; SP2;

Her computer shows IE v
6.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633
Update version:; SP1; Q (this that another, 8 total Q things) if
it truly important I can write them down.

I am also getting the little gray boxes on several web sites with
the little red x's. When I right click and ask it to show the
picture, it does not.

STOP/STOP/STOP

I just went to check the site about the alternate links you asked
about. You won't believe!!!!!!!!!!!! You fixed it by just asking
about it. You're great.

Honestly, there is one change I made. I was more than a little
frustrated when I started getting the little boxes with red x's.
I also had several web pages that the printing just didn't seem
right - cut off edges, etc. I went to Control Panel, Display,
Settings to see what the settings were. I clicked through the
advance stuff and happened to change the resolution; I sure
didn't like it so went back to where it had been. Figured I might
see a change in stuff after a restart, wait, I need to finish that
excel sheet - I never got around to the restart. It is just
magically fixed. I'm sure it is something you did, Jason. Thanx.

Apparently SP2 made a change that my video driver didn't
understand. I have restarted several times since adding SP2. It
was not until I went in to jiggle the setting that anything was
fixed. Must be kinda like thumping on the side of TV set when I
was kid.

Hi Dan,

Many thanks for your thanks - they're much appreciated, makes replying to
messages here more worthwhile!

Well I guess it must be the power of positive thought - or someone upstairs
really wants you to have that calendar! Glad it got working anyhow.

Regards,

Jason
