XP to NT4 Domain, Used to work - AD messed things up ?

Leigh

Hi

All our machines (W2K and XP) are connected to a NT4 domain and all
work fine except for one laptop.

This laptop was connected to the domain for about 4 months and then it
took a nice holiday to Australia for 6 months where, I think, it was
connected to a Adaptive Directory.
Now its back and I can't get it to connect to the NT4 domain.

Normally it takes about 30 seconds before you get a "welcome to the
domain" message, but now I get an error straight away (see below)

I've made sure that Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled (normally set to
default under advance TCP/IP settings) as this appears to be the main
problem with users on the net but this does not help.

The network card works OK and I can mount a drive from the PDC using
the netbios name, I just can't join is anymore.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance

Leigh

it sound like name resolution issue. It is better to setup WINS for the name
resolution.
