Hi i hope someone can help me with this i would be very grateful

I have 2 XP proffessional computers i a trying to add to our small office
network.
The server which hosts the domain runs on NT4 small business server

Whilst the 2 new computers running xp can ping the server and other
computers on the network they can not conect to the domain.

An error message which explains that the :

The domain name INSIGHTSOLN might be a NetBIOS domain name. If this is the
case, verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS.

If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the
following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration.

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location
(SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain
INSIGHTSOLN:

The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.INSIGHTSOLN

Common causes of this error include the following:

- The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.

- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child
zone:

INSIGHTSOLN
.. (the root zone)

Paul,

Networking computers running Windows XP, to a domain using Windows NT, is
tricky. There are several specific steps that you must take. I've outlined
them in my article:
<http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/windows-xp-on-nt-domain.html>
http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/windows-xp-on-nt-domain.html

The article describes wizard selections which are identified under Server 2000
and Server 2003. For NT Server, they may vary, but the principle is the same.
