XP & ThumbDrive

Shift Happens

My 256Mb ThumbDrive works fine in my laptop with Windows
2000 and has been working fine in my home computer with
Windows XP. Just recently, though, my home computer with
XP won't recognize my ThumbDrive as a "removeable
drive". I've tried everything I know, even booting up
with it plugged in, and to no avail, I cannot get to it.
In the Device Manager it is recognized and it states that
it is working properly. I also recently noticed that my
System Tools in my Applications has moved. I believe
something has changed my computer and I have no clue what
it is. I really need some "expert" help. Thanks in
advance.....

I would suggest uninstalling the driver for your
Thumbdrive, {while its in} then unplugging and replugging
it in. Also make sure there is not a virus conatined
within your thumbdrive. (many anti-viral programs allow
you to run a Removable Media Test.) Then I would make
sure there are no 3rd party programs "infecting" your
computer.
