It's a strange behaviour ... Certainly it's also strange that someone
use pc in this way, but a customer asked me why a pc with three
user, open all three session, change user, and the first time it try
to access to one of the session opened the pc hang up and need
to be resetted to continue.

May be that sp2 is needed. For what I remember, sp2 doesn't fix
anything like that, but ...

Any reply is accepted.

thank you
Andrea

I believe that problem occurs with a lack of RAM, how much RAM does the
computer contain?

It may depend on the PC components and configuration. If multiple users are
logged on at the same time and each user has multiple programs and processes
running this could drag down the performance of the system, especially if
the PC is using a small amount of RAM or has an older, slower processor.

256MB ...

256MB is the starting point, bare minimum, for a small XP system. It
could also be that you have bad memory.

Try adding another 256, or just get it to 512MB and you should be fine.

I'll tried to do the same tests on a PIII 1000Mhz
with 256 Mb ram. It works fine.

The pc that hang up is a P4 3,0 ghz, and I've changed
the ram ... but problem persists.

It may depends from MB or from CPU, but how to
demonstrate to vendor that is an HW problem and not
by the software?
