I'm using WinXP and my Taskbar is about an inch wide and I can't seem
to do
anything about it. Hope someone can help me. I have the Taskbar
unlocked
and I can drag it wider but can't drag it any narrower. What am I
doing
wrong? Yes I'm using the "Classic Start Menu" if that has anything to
do
with it.

Hi, Ken,

The taskbar will usually expand to more than one level for one of two
reasons.

1. The user has increased the size

2. There is another bar that is too large for the top level and expands
to
2.

Make sure your taskbar is unlocked (right click on taskbar, uncheck
"Lock
the Taskbar." Then move to the top line on the top of the bar until
your
cursor turns into a double arrow, then drag it back down.

If you can't resize it, then look on the bottom level for an icon or,
more
than likely, a separator line. You'll have to resize things on the top

level so that there is nothing left on the second level. It's strictly
a
matter of trial and error, there's no secret to doing it and it can be
frustrating.

Make your quicklaunch smaller, or any other toolbars you might have,
such as
an address bar. Once you have everything, including any separator
lines
back on the top level, you'll be able to drag back to one level using
the
above instructions.

There *is* a suggested answer in amongst that lot. You don't say if you have
tried it.

(And you really should continue that thread rather than star a new one)
