XP System will not hibernate

I am running Windows XP with SP2 on my home desktop PC. I go into the Power
Options panel and set my system up to turn off the monitor, then go into
standby, then turn off the hard disks, and then hibernate. I have clicked
the "enable hibernation" in the hibernate tab. It won't go into hibernation
on its own though. It'll go into standby but not hibernation. At that,
it'll wake itself back up after about an hour of being in standby. I can
manually put it in hibernate and it'll work fine. But, it don't work when I
set it to do it itself. I have multiple user accounts on this system. I
have configured them all to the same settings thinking that might have
something to do with it. Does anybody have any input?

Is your Network Adapter set to "Allow this device to bring the computer out
of standby." If so, your computer will wake up periodically. To get there,
Start>run and type

devmgmt.msc

then find network adapters, expand by clicking on the plus sign then select
your NIC and right-click and select properties. Click Power Management.

William,
I went into my device manager and expanded the "network adapters."
There was only one listed: "Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adaptor(LNE100TX
v4)" I went into its properties. This device has no "power management"
option. I searched all through its properties. It did say that the ethernet
adaptor was disabled though. I do not use my ethernet adaptor. That would
explain why it's disabled. I use a modem. Do you have any other suggestions
as to why my computer will not automatically go into hibernation?
