Check your hardware.

This is possibly a corrupted driver and graphics cards drivers are the most
likely to
get corrupted.
Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Display Adaptors
Right click on the Graphics Card and select Uninstall,
select Yes when you are asked if you are sure.
Reboot. You will have to reset your resolution settings.
If that does not fix it, unplug all of your Hardware, printers, modems etc
and reboot, plug each item back in, one at a time
and see which on it is.
If that does not work, check the hard drive.

And if that doesn't work, check the RAM.

Make sure you have a full and complete backup of all important data.
Run Chkdsk /F on the drive. It will say it can't do it from within
windows and do you want it to run at the next boot. Say yes. If that
doesn't fix things download a drive diagnostic utility from the drive
manufacturer's web site and run it. Also check the memory with these
two programs. Let them run for some time each.

Memtest86+
http://www.memtest.org/

Windows Memory Diagnostic
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

If still experiencing problems update all drivers getting the most
recent driver from the device manufacturer's web site of retail devices,
from the OEM's web site if it's an OEM system or the motherboard
manufacturer's web site if the device is on the motherboard.
