And where do I go from here? No error messages sound. The desktop background
loads, but no icons, taskbar or start menu. I can access and use programs on
the computer via Ctrl-Alt-Del and clicking New Task, then browsing for
individual program files. Once loaded, the programs function as usual, but
the desktop features are not restored. I've tried to reset the computer and
run a disk cleanup. I have no anti-virus software installed (woops!) How do I
troubleshoot this problem? Where do I go from here?
I'm running Microsoft Windows XP, home edition, version 2002, installed by
the manufacturer. I dont have a cd. Apparently there's a serial number on the
inside of the computer tower. The computer is a hand-me-down. I have no idea
where it was bought, or manufactured.
Please help!
