XP start menu problem

hi,

i'm using a windows XP pro, and my classic mode start menu suddenly
does not work. when i click on the start button, nothing pops up.
but when i change the start mode to the new XP mode, it works fine.
how do i fix?

I had this problem for a while with my classic view when I installed some new
drivers and programs because my computer would mess up during the start up
phase... So I ran an msconfig and cleaned up my startup... I don't have that
problem anymore...

Just a note... to get to the Run dialog box without using the start button
press the "Windows" key... and the Start Menu should appear like usual.
