Removing Recent Documents from Start Menu in XP

V

Vicky Vale

I can do this with out problems in normal start menu mode.

The problem is trying to get rid of this using the classic start menu.

Even if I change to normal start menu, remove recent documents from the
list,
when I change back to classic start menu it reappears.

Does anyone know how to remove this. I hate having to go to clear 10 times a
day to protect from snoops.

Thanks

Hi Vicky,

To remove the 'Documents' from Classic Start Menu, set NoRecentDocsMenu to 1
in this registry key:

Click Start/Run and type regedit.exe to launch Registry Editor:

Navigate to this location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

NoRecentDocsMenu value may not exist by default.

If so, create a new value of type REG_DWORD and set it's data to 1

you can use this registry tweak to stop "recent documents" from
accumulating at all.
