XP sp3 on CD

Hello folks,

Just found out that Win XP SP3 final release is out and available for
download. The file is almost like 400mb and this might not be practicable
with the kind of download speeds available where I am at.
Just want to figure out when Microsooft will make this update will be
available on CD, so that it can be ordered directly.

Likely will be. Probably for a shipping/handling fee.

Until then... (Perhaps get someone with high-speed to do one of the latter
two for you?)

If you wanted to have Microsoft do all the work and download only the parts
of SP3 you need:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

If you wanted to download the executable file and utilize it to install on
one or more computers (save it on portable media, etc):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&DisplayLang=en

If you wanted to download the CD image of the CD that you will (at some
point) be able to order from Microsoft for (likely) a shipping charge and
utilize that CD now to install SP3 on one or more computers:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ce-b5fb-4488-8c50-fe22559d164e&DisplayLang=en

Need something to write that ISO image file to an actual CD - given you have
a CD burner and blank CD and have downloaded that? Free Program you could
utilize to burn the ISO file to an actual CD:

Get a friend on 'high speed' internet to download it for you. I
downloaded the iso file in one hour and forty three minutes. I
shudder what time it would take with dial-up.

Says 22 hours, 9 minutes at 56K. That is, if you can find a dial-up that
truly connects at 56K. I'd say at least 24 hours minimum. That's also
assuming that your ISP don't kick you out, or reduce the download speed due
to traffic. Would also be fun to have to restart all over again if
disconnected for some reason with a couple of MB left.

Think I could start a business and ship CD's. $5.99 for S&H? Seems
like a demand starting here. :)

Start your download at night and leave your computer on. Wake up in the
morning and "voila" there it be.
I have a cable connection and it took about 50 minutes to download the ISO
version. Then, with Nero I chose to burn an ISO CD and burned the ISO
version. That took about 10 minutes. It works fine.

But... if you wait maybe MS will offer it on CD. I got an SP2 CD from them
for free. They didn't even charge for shipping.

You might consider finding a place nearby, such as an interenet cafe or
someone's work, to download the entire SP file or ISO (the ISO is larger).

You may find that this is faster than waiting the several weeks for
shipping, and possibly cheaper, too.

Doofus yourself! Read the other posts and OP could find a high speed download
"area" and get this ISO.
