sp3 Windows XP Pro install CD?

J

will sp3 Windows XP Pro install CD/DVDs be available?

(to install the whole OS, not just the service pack. I'm reluctant to try
creating a slipstream one; I tried last month and killed my OS.)

I'd love one, so I can do Repair Installs.

But that won't help the OP, who is looking for XP *Pro*.

He or she isn't the only person reading this news group and someone
might have the same question about Home.

I'm surprised there are any WinXP with SP3 disks MS have stopped producing
retail XP.

But, XP is still in support.

Yep I realise that, I was just surprised there were disks for sale with SP3
when I thought they announced "end of sale" June 30th on or around the time
SP3 was released. I think mainstream support is until 2009, with security
updates until 2014.

NewEgg has them:

thanks very much...I wonder why the Microsoft Order Desk told me this
morning that these didn't exist. plus...

I already have a licensed copy of XP Pro, I just want an sp3 install *DISK*.
when sp2 came out, Microsoft mailed them out for free...and now I can't
figure out how to buy one without buying a new license. aargh!

They mailed out SP2 CDs for free, not XP SP2. You can download and burn
an SP3 .iso and burn it to a CD.

Lot of those notable naysayers, who frequent this newsgroup, that said the
same thing a few months ago are awfully quiet regarding precisely that.

Bailout: U.S. taxpayers paying a sum of

Somehow, the word "bailout" seems
very different.

Don't hold your breath while you wait.
Read up on "Slipstreaming" and you can make a System Disk with XP-SP3 for use as a repair or
re-installation disk.

We weren't in a worldwide recession and MS was still making money,
hand-over-fist, in 2004.

thanks, I'll do just that today. I hosed an OS when doing that for the
first time last month , but it turms out that was because the PC had bad RAM.
